ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in Greenway last night (Tuesday, February 28).
About 9.45 pm a man entered the Lakeside Leisure Centre on Anketell Street, walking into the office and searching the room. A staff member approached the man and saw he had a small silver bladed knife. The man then fled.
The alleged offender was seen wearing dark tracksuit pants, a dark coloured sweat shirt, and a dark coloured baseball cap with a bum bag. He is alleged to have left the area riding a grey coloured BMX bike towards the Anketell Street taxi rank.
A short time later as police were responding to this incident, a man has attempted to enter a car in a car park adjacent to Anketell Street and have the driver take him home. The driver yelled out causing the man to run off. The driver seized the BMX that the man had been riding prior to getting in the car. Police believe it is the same man involved in both incidents.
Anyone who was at the Leisure Centre or nearby car park who may have witnessed the man or may be able to assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
