Dead body found partially submerged in river at Stromlo

Police have found a dead body partially submerged in the Murrumbidgee River at Stromlo.

Police officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the dead body which was located around 4.30 pm yesterday afternoon (November 11).

Police believe that the person had been dead for some time – possibly even a matter of weeks.

As yet they have been unable to identify the person who died and say that investigations are continuing.

The body has been handed over to the Coroner who will conduct a post mortem to determine the cause of death and to also assist in identifying the body.

Police located the dead body after responding to a call from the public to come to the area yesterday afternoon.

An ACT Policing spokeswoman said that at this stage the death is not looking to be suspicious but investigations are continuing.
