Home at the End, the latest work from Canberran playwrite Dunan Ley, is coming to the Courtyard Studio as a part of the Collected Works 2013 Subscription Season.
Commissioned by Everyman Theatre specifically for Canberra’s Centenary celebrations, Home at the End is a groundbreaking powerful story of love, loss and guilt, set against a backdrop of magic, and illusion. A lost little girl – Molly – discovers an old abandoned fishing shack. Exploring further, she meets a grizzled old man who tells fantastical stories about faraway places. But sometimes, life gets in the way of a good story.
From its quiet beginnings inside the fishing shack, the story moves across realities and times, intertwining past, present, future, fantasy and reality into a captivating tapestry of decisions and consequences that illustrate how a single moment in one life can alter the course of so many others.
Combining puppetry and traditional acting techniques Home at the End generates a host of artistic creativity with the best of Canberra’s production and acting talent converging for the show. Director Jarrad West has assembled an impressive local cast to vivify the story including Duncan Driver, Jordan Best, Helen McFarlane, and Isaac Reilly.
