A 19-year-old Kambah man was arrested by ACT Policing yesterday (Monday, 25 August) after allegedly throwing contraband into the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

About 11.20am police received a report of a suspicious man throwing a number of items over the fence, into the yard of the jail.

Police located the man in a paddock near Lanyon Drive where he was arrested.

The items thrown into the yard include a white powder suspected to be amphetamines.

The man is charged with trespass, take prohibited item into correctional facility (three counts), possess drug of dependence (two counts), possess prohibited substance, and breach of good behaviour order.

He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (26 August) where bail will be opposed.

Interesting that the AFP appear to imply that the offender was caught by the AFP. He was actually detected, run down and caught by correctional officers from the AMC who held him until police arrived.

The offender also had 3 mobile phones on him, which is always a good indication that someone is up to no good 🙂
