For the past 12 months water has been penetrating into the ceiling of my unit from the unit above mine. The unit above is owned by ACT Housing and neither that agency nor the strata managers, Civium Strata, have resolved the problem. The Body Corporate hasn’t replied to my requests for assistance. Now Civium Strata tell me the water penetration is subject to an insurance claim by ACT Housing. I have been unable to live there since March this year because of the health hazard from mould and bacteria. I need to make an application for an order to ACAT but when I spoke to that agency I was told that I need to go to a solicitor. I thought ACAT was for people who did not want, or could not afford, legal avenues. Does anyone have any experiences or advice that might help me?
