How did your work Christmas parties go?

Yep.

While I think about it, don’t go to Rydges Lakeside for Xmas day. Crap food, too many people, noisy as hell, too expensive, and the service woeful. My comment from last year’s thread: “But if you enjoy shelling out $90 for the privilege of queuing with plate in hand for 70 minutes, go right ahead…”

There was a musical number performed. I’ve worked on and off here for quite a few years and there is ALWAYS some bastard with a guitar. Is this something common in the public service, or just us?

I just got home from mine….not bad at all and much better than last years.

Drinks only after students left and the food was awesome.

Just as it happens fabforty, ours was at Flint and it was great (what I can remember) great food, great service and as I said previously great wine and we picked the cheapest @ about $32 a bottle.
Probably not the best place for a christmas function as we were seated in front of the kitchen and it was noisy but a great time was had by all.

It wasn’t at Flint by any chance was it Danman ? If so, you saved yourself a fairly crap time.

On another note, a couple of years ago I witnessed an inebriated colleague front up to a very senior person at our workplace, tell senior person’s wife what he thought of her dress sense, then (before we could save him) vomit on the same persons shoes.

I was invited to five. I worked through four. I went to the one held on last Saturday, as I didn’t have to work.

self funded as in a user pays arrangement.

I can not believe how many agencies pay for their own x-mas parties.

In my experience through several agencies, its always been self funded or funded through social club fundraising

Just got back from my “Mamma Mia” themed Xmas party lunch… yes I wrote “Mamma Mia” theme. Funs. Food was excellent though, and we had cake. Mmm cake.

My partner’s work (an international company) cancelled all Xmas parties for all of its branches everywhere to save money. I guess if cancelling the parties means it saves one persons job then they are doing the right thing.

Southern Cross Club room hire let us down this year. Food not as good as I remember it and becuase there was no bar, the drinks service was very, very slow.
Had a better time at the in-office Christmas lunch, made it ourselves and took all afternoon to eat, drink and be merry.

don’t get me wrong, we would have a christmas party if we were a large branch, but only 3 staff, bit of a waste.

A friend of a friend had to be carted off in an ambulance from alcohol poisoning after about six too many champers. She was so embarrassed and mortified she forced herself to go to work the next day to save what was left of her reputation.

And no, it wasn’t me. I have no reputation left!

Last Friday night, excellent restaurant, excellent wine, a little too excellent, I forgot I was drinking wine and not beer so subsequently got sh!tfaced.
Nearly pissed my self ’cause I got lost looking for the toilet despite the fact I had been there many times that night…
Missus wasn’t real happy with me on Saturday though, many chores to get back in the good books. She was ok by Monday.

Last night I was at work drinks til 11pm then carried on at the Pot, but that wasn’t a Christmas party…

Ours is this afternoon. Just finished shoe-horning two cases of coopers and a dozen bottles of wine into the fridge. To make rook I had to chuck out some lunches from home that I reakon must have been brought in when John Howard was still in power.
