Nicole Lawder is getting steamed up on behalf of Trinity Christian School and the risks of a lack of a crossing:
ACT Labor has denied students at Trinity Christian School in Wanniassa road safety, dismissing the Canberra Liberals calls for a school crossing over McBryde Crescent, Member for Brindabella Nicole Lawder said today.
“Today in the Legislative Assembly, Labor and the Greens dashed hopes of parents, school staff and students to get a proper pedestrian crossing built over this dangerous stretch of road outside the school. The Government has put off building a crossing in favour of a review,” Ms Lawder said.
“Many parents have discussed their concerns with me about the safety of their children on their way to and from school around McBryde Crescent. No crossing means there is a major safety risk which doesn’t have to be there.
“I have sponsored an e-petition for a crossing which is getting the support of concerned residents and the school community. It will be tabled in the November sitting of the Legislative Assembly.
It’s hard to imagine any review being cheaper than just building the crossing.
