ACT Policing detectives have seized a firearm, quantity of drugs and a sum of cash during a search warrant in Curtin yesterday (Wednesday, 13 November).
Acting on information received following the execution of a warrant in Kaleen last month in which a firearm was seized and a man charged, Criminal Investigations detectives executed a search warrant yesterday afternoon on a Curtin apartment.
During this warrant police seized a Winchester rifle, knives, a sum of cash and a quantity of illicit drugs suspected to be methylamphetamine.
A 32-year-old Curtin man was arrested following the warrant and taken to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with firearm and drug offences. He was bailed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, November 29.
Detective Sergeant David Turner said this is another example of ACT Policing’s dedication to removing illicit firearms and drugs from Canberra streets.
Police urge anyone with information on illicit firearms or the manufacturing or dealing of illicit drugs to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
