The August 2014 Public Forum for the Belconnen Community Council will be held at:
7.30pm, Tuesday 19 August 2014 in the
Community Room above the Belconnen Library
Chandler Street, Belconnen
Representatives from the Community Services Directorate and the Economic Development Directorate will discuss the Omnibus Territory Plan Variation sites, especially those in Belconnen at Kaleen (former bocce club) and Charnwood (former fire station).
This will be followed by a presentation by Deputy Chair Tara Cheyne, on the results of our survey on the Belconnen Town Centre. The survey was conducted in April and May, ahead of the Masterplan and the report has received wide media and community attention.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 18 November. Members are reminded that they need to have attended three public meetings in the twelve months preceding the AGM, i.e. from and including November 2013, to qualify to vote or stand for a committee position. Nominations are invited now to fill a temporary vacancy on the committee until the AGM. Please indicate your willingness to nominate by emailing chair@belcouncil.org.au or by using our feedback form at Contact Us on http://belcouncil.org.au by Monday 18 August. If necessary, an election will be held at the meeting on 19 August.
A new survey is now available on our homepage and facebook or here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/bccpublicmeetings
Please send us your ideas on our public meetings. What sort of topics are important to the community? What else could improve the way Council meetings are organised?
Researchers at the Australian National University are seeking participants for a study of older adult drivers to develop tests that improve the identification of drivers at risk. See our homepage for further details: http://belcouncil.org.au.
