The Canberra Times has a story on a parliamentary committee submission by our AFP on their skyrocketing ecstasy seizures.
Meanwhile…
The latest National Drug Strategy Household Survey shows the ACT had the highest percentage of ecstasy users in the country. About 6per cent of residents aged 14 or older reported taking ecstasy – also known as MDMA – in 2004 compared with 4.8per cent in 2001.
In the same period, the proportion of people who reported using speed decreased from 4.5per cent to 4.3per cent, still the second highest in the country behind Western Australia with 4.5per cent.
Record seizures don’t seem to be having much effect on the market. And how many drug users do you think give honest answers in surveys?
