Mike Kelly needs to rethink his slogan ... ?

BundahBoy, just so you have a better understanding of waht you are talking about – John Barilaro is a candidate for Monaro in the State Election due next month. David Gazard is contesting Eden Monaro against Mike Kelly. In Australia we have Local Government, State and Federal Electios.

It’s more useful to think of him as a Country member.

They were probably devised by the same person as it’s just as bad as “moving forward”.

Given that Labor is the only one trying to drag workchoices from the grave, I don’t see how moving forward is an appropriate slogan. Therefore, I think a better slogan would be “Gillard: moving foward by looking back” or should that be “going backwards”? They could also use “Kelly who?” for the eden-monaro campaign.

Gary Nairn was Howards hairier stunt double. If Nationals candidate John Barilaro cant win a hick seat like Eden Monaro then Kelly deserves to keep working (at being lazy).

Obviously his daughter’s name is Kelly – and that if you re-elect Mr Kelly then is good for employment (generally) and therefore Kelly Kelly will keep her job. Keep Kelly (Kelly) Working. Dont let her stop – its a Work Choices thing

I think “Mike Kelly – Rat on Defence Welfare Pensioners” would be more appropriate.

I don’t think he would be very good at this job…I saw him once just prior to the last election at one of those MacDonald stops on the Federal Highway – he happened to be leaving the same time as me and he shot off into the distance at a roaring speed well in excess of the speed limit.

Well, I think it’s entirely appropriate.
The only other fitting slogan for him would be
WAKE UP MIKE

It does appear to be legit coverage, here’s something from The Age dated today, mentioning the slogan.
Its terrible, in that it isn’t a statement of any kind, but carries the connotation that he needs to be forced to do things instead of the “Let him keep doing good things for you” they were most likely after.
Alternately, it offers a kind of implicit threat that the public will be responsible for things going wrong.

But it becomes mildly entertaining if you imagine it similar to the bus from Speed, and that Kelly becomes a public threat if his productivity drops below a certain threshold.
“For the love of god, Keep Kelly Working!!! If he stops, KABOOM…“

(Idea for campaign advisors: “Kelly Works” diferentiates Kelly from the competition in that he does work, and they don’t…)

I think he’s going for “Allow Kelly to keep working (for you)”, as opposed to “Make Kelly work”. It’s not a good slogan if you have to think about it, though.

That is wrong on so many levels.

I am over ‘moving forward’ as well. Roll on 21 August!

Worst slogan I have ever heard – it implies that he needs to be pressured to keep doing his job, perhaps he could change it to “Perfromance manage me to stop me being lazy”.

He will have a new slogan befroe the end of the campaign.
