Man to face court over firearms and allegedly making threats

A 37-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on weapons charges.

ACT Policing said that about 9.45 am yesterday (Thursday, 1 November) police were called to a residence in Kambah where they conducted a brief search and found two firearms.

Members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations Team, along with AFP Specialist Response Group (SRG) and Canine Team, then commenced a search for the man around the Tuggeranong area.

The man was found a short time later after a traffic stop in Wanniassa.

He was subsequently arrested, with a search of his vehicle revealing another firearm.

The man has been charged with unlawful possession of firearms and using a carriage service to menace/harass.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
