A 37-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on weapons charges.

Members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations Team, along with AFP Specialist Response Group (SRG) and Canine Team, then commenced a search for the man around the Tuggeranong area.

The man was found a short time later after a traffic stop in Wanniassa.

He was subsequently arrested, with a search of his vehicle revealing another firearm.

The man has been charged with unlawful possession of firearms and using a carriage service to menace/harass.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
