Jackson is hoping to find a family that loves to swim!

Travelling with pets this summer break? We all love our pets and see them as important family members. Life and important holidays wouldn’t be the same without them.

Of course, there is a lot to think about before taking your pet away, and all the appropriate arrangements should be made before booking your holiday.

Summer Travel Tips

  1. Public Transportation: If you’re travelling by bus, train or plane ensure that you’ve contacted the company to ensure that you’re allowed to bring your pal. It’s a good idea to try and take the most direct route you can. This will decrease the amount of handling your pet will have with unfamiliar people and situations.
  2. Be aware of the rules and regulations: In Australia, domestic animals are banned from National Parks, Nature Reserves, Aboriginal areas and State Recreation Areas as they are potentially dangerous to the native wildlife and animals.
  3. Pet Health: It would be a good idea to print out your pet’s medical history in case a visit to a local vet is required at your travel destination. You should consider visiting the vet before taking your pet on holiday to make sure that they have no health issues before you go. The vet can do a check-up of the animal’s health and can recommend any vaccinations required for the area you are visiting.
  4. Identification: Ensure that your pet’s microchip details are up to date and that they have an identification tag in case they get lost. If you’re going for an extended period, it might be worth using editable tags. This way you can record the address and contact details of your holiday accommodation.
  5. Pack a bag for your dog: Pack a bag for your pet just like you would for a child. Consider all the places you will visit along the way when packing.
