The NCA is appalled that someone’s been at their elm trees on Kings Avenue:
Five Elm trees planted by the National Capital Authority (NCA) along Kings Avenue were substantially vandalised over the weekend.
The Elms trees (Ulmus procera) were part of the regeneration work associated with the Kings Avenue overpass construction.
NCA Executive Director, Alison Walker-Kaye said the damage was so extensive that all five trees will need to be replaced.
‘It is extremely disappointing that we’ve lost these Elm trees. Replacement trees will be planted as soon as possible, but we hope that this does not occur again,’ said Ms Walker-Kaye.
With 102 planted we are at least spared the possibility of an Elm shortage. Fret not, the AFP has been alerted.
