Enjoy the good weather and witness as many outdoor events as you can because, as Lord Eddard Stark once said, “Winter is coming!”

A number of indoor activities have begun to appear on our radars as audiences are feeling more confident about gathering inside. Highly anticipated live shows are making their way to Canberra’s venues, giving the capital a renewed sense of life. From comedy, music and dancing, sipping and drinking to uncovering a giant bird sculpture in the heart of the city, there’s certainly something interesting to do almost every day of this week, so grab your chips and enjoy!

An explosive line-up of comedians is here for the 2022 Canberra Comedy Festival. This 10-day festival features comedy superstars Ronny Chieng, Stephen K Amos, Aaron Chen, Kirsty Webeck and Geraldine Hickey. But don’t forget the local favourite, Chris Ryan. For details, visit the official website.

The ACT Seasonal Antique and Collectable Fair is back for 2022. Over 20 recognised antique exhibitors will be present with an excellent stock of quality furniture, pints, jewellery, dolls and more for sale. The proceeds will go to the MyHome charity to provide safe and supported accommodation for people with an enduring mental illness who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

2022 Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival

When: Saturday 19 March, from 11 am to 6 pm
Where: Mercure Canberra
Cost: $20 online or $30 on the day. Children under 18 years free. Get your tickets here.

A day where beer and cider enthusiasts can enjoy a broad range of craft offerings – surely one day isn’t enough? Mercure Canberra provides an ideal setting for breweries to display their wares. Tickets include entry into the festival, access to 40-plus of the best local and interstate craft breweries, gourmet food vendors, live music and other festival activities. Eat Hot Chips with Big Swoop

When: Saturday 19 March, from 12 pm to 2 pm
Where: Garema Place, City Walk
Cost: Free.

Canberrans are invited to Garema Place to welcome Big Swoop, a large-scale magpie sculpture due for installation mid-week. Between 12 noon and 2 pm, free hot chips will be served in celebration of his imminent arrival. Measuring 2.4-metres high and 3.5-metres long, the oversized magpie was made possible by a Placemaking Grant from the City Renewal Authority. Created by Canberra-based artist Yanni Pounartzis, Big Swoop reminds us that humans are not the only residents in the area. The giant bird is asserting his territory and reminding humans who is the boss of Garema Place.

To celebrate Harmony Day 2022, eight languages bearing the same message have been added to the Peace Pole 100: Bengali, Farsi, Hindi, Nepali, Sinhalese, Swahili, Ukrainian and Urdu.

Wear your national costumes or something orange, ring the Peace Bell, share your friendship and appreciate the language.
