A 25-year-old man has been charged after three homes in the Woden area were broken into and robbed on the same night.

At about 3:30 am on 10 June, police received reports three men had broken into a Weston residence while the homeowners were inside. CCTV showed three men stealing personal belongings, including credit cards and car keys.

A second burglary occurred at about 4:25 am in Duffy, where a Mercedes Benz E250 was stolen while the homeowners were sleeping. Police were able to secure CCTV video of the incident.

A third home was targeted at about 5 am in Duffy when a Volkswagen Golf was stolen. The homeowner woke up to the sound of someone breaking in and was able to give police CCTV footage.

I have worked in the justice sector for over 10 years and have worked with all the departments involved in criminal justice matters. There is a severe lack of training for nearly all of the staff in all the areas. The magistrates need to know exactly where they are sending someone when they deny bail or impose a custodial sentence. The jail is a joke i was on remand for 10 months and found not guilty but while on remand i was housed with murderers one a double murderer and one who killed 6 from the same family. (he was in a main yard i couldnt understand it he killed children) There are no programs for detainees to work towards rehabilitation that the magistrate has sent them there for. Its a joke. If you know me then you know that I am more than competent enough to make these observations

“It’s possible that, had a home owner awoken and confronted these guys, even by just responding to the noise, they may have been murdered in their homes.”

If that was the case in some forward looking countries, the home invaders would have been shot dead by the owner, legally.
