A Romantic Dinner in Canberra

Back seat of my ’67 Kingswood, burgers and banana smoothies to hand, lake view, is about as morantic as it gets.

went to the boathouse the other night and was quite impressed. as it was a quiet night of the week, we had time to just sit back and relax, we weren’t rushed through.
food was excellent. (barring my idea of rare being different from the chef’s.. i just sucked it up though)

while i rekkun there are better places to eat – ie better food – aubergine at griffith is pretty swank, with sorta silver service. similarly (strange, being owned by the same people n that…), courgette – where fringe benefits was on marcus clarke st – is also pretty noice for a romantic slap-up feast. ottoman has a nice vibe for this, too.

others have mentioned chairperson and yip. and i’m glad dickson kfc got a guernsey. wot about the tradies but? ya can swoon her in a tram.

That only works on qbn and tuggers chicks. i think it has to with going to a fast food joint outside of their local region that shows you’ve really gone over and above 🙂

The waters edge is my choice for a quiet, romantic dinner. The meals are good, the wine list is quite reasonable and the outlook is great.

I do agree that Canberra does lack a Black Tie type eatery.

Best bet would be to lay it on yourself. Whip up something special, whack it in a hamper and have a romantic dinner at the National Carilon or somewhere similar. Could even abduct a wandering gypsy violinist for the musical accompanyment.

Takeaway from KFC Dickson, followed by a romantic drive up to Mt Ainslie: works every time!
