Studio Cocoa

Studio Cocoa is a Canberra-based chocolate studio run by Tannah Moran.

“We are a Canberra-based chocolate company priding ourselves on handmade chocolates made with high-quality ingredients and, most importantly, ethically and sustainably sourced chocolate,” Tannah told Region.

For Easter this year, Studio Cocoa is making Smash Eggs: a 15 cm high milk chocolate egg filled with speculoos truffles, mini Creme Eggs, marshmallow half eggs, freckle mini eggs and white chocolate malt balls. It even comes with a wooden hammer for smashing through the shell!

Lemon lovers will enjoy the Chicken Smash Egg, which is filled with lemon meringue bonbons and lemon poppyseed malt balls.

“I started the brand to not only bring people a higher calibre quality of chocolate, but also chocolate that is better for the planet than what you find at the supermarket,” said Tannah.

Studio Cocoa chocolates can be ordered online, or find Tannah at a pop-up stall at level 1 of the Canberra Centre outside Watches of Switzerland, near Zara, from 29 March until Easter Saturday.

Li Peng and Peter Monroe hand-make their chocolates from ethically sourced cacao beans imported from Papua New Guinea. Li Peng and Peter have formed personal relationships with many of their farmers and suppliers to ensure a fair price and sustainable work practices.

The award-winning business has 19 medals to its name! Their small-batch chocolates are crafted at their Fyshwick workshop from bean to bar. They have already been restocking their classic chocolate eggs and bunnies, which are selling fast!

Products are available for purchase directly from the factory, their stockists, or can be ordered online.

Find Jasper & Myrtle at Unit 9, Building 3.1, 1 Dairy Road, Fyshwick, or weekly at the EPIC Farmers Markets.

Enigma Fine Chocolates
Enigma Fine Chocolates is a family-run business that started out at home but has since moved into a dedicated shopfront in Braddon. They specialise in creating artisan chocolates and have a strong focus on using local produce from within the Canberra region.

“Easter is the busiest time for any chocolatier!” owner Stuart Strutt-Shotton told Region.

“Obviously, we’ve got the bunny and egg shapes which are synonymous with Easter, but we have a few different things as well.”

Enigma’s Easter products feature three pastel-coloured chocolate eggs filled with a variety of flavoured chocolate barks. Or grab the rustic ‘egg carton’ with four chocolate eggs rolled in coconut, biscoff, caramel pieces or hazelnut.

Enigma Fine Chocolates is located in the Ori building, 65/30 Lonsdale Street, Braddon.

The Murrumbateman Chocolate Company
The Murrumbateman Chocolate Company is the umbrella brand that covers the former Robyn Rowe Chocolates and Sweet Pea & Poppy. Owner Yasmin Coe says the local region and producers are key to her brand.

“Murrumbateman is a really great foodie region that punches well above its weight in terms of what it offers to visitors,” said Yasmin.

“We love being part of this region, and everything we do is crafted with a lot of passion and purpose on site by our talented, dedicated team.”

The Murrumbateman Chocolate Company will be open for Easter Saturday with music, games for kids on the lawns and last-minute Easter shopping for parents! Pick up some of Sweet Pea & Poppy’s signature Happy Hens on a nest of eggs, or Hot Cross Bun truffles.

The Murrumbateman Chocolate Company is located at 1153 Nanima Road, Murrumbateman, NSW.
