Two teenagers, aged just 11 and 14, have been accused of violently assaulting and confining another girl in an alleged attack that was reportedly captured on film.
Officers were patrolling northern Canberra at around 6 pm on Wednesday (5 April) when they were told about an injured teenage girl near a fast-food outlet, ACT Policing said.
The girl was taken to hospital to treat her multiple injuries.
Soon afterwards, officers were given a video. This video allegedly showed two girls, aged 11 and 14, confining the third girl then repeatedly punching, kicking and kneeing her.
It is alleged the pair also threatened to assault her more if she spoke about the incident.
Police arrested the pair at their homes shortly afterwards and charged them with assault, joint commission forcible confinement and threatening a participant in a criminal investigation.
They were scheduled to appear in the ACT Children’s Court on Thursday (6 April).
Police are urging any witnesses to come forward. Anyone who can assist police can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Quote 7396342.
