UPDATE Friday, 19 January – Police have revealed 11 apartments needed to be evacuated during a building fire in O’Connor earlier this week.
ACT Fire & Rescue crews responded to reports of an apartment block on Berrigan Crescent on fire at about 1:40 am on Wednesday (17 January).
The third level of the complex was significantly damaged and repairs are estimated to cost millions of dollars.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze.
The ACT Policing Major Crime Squad is now investigating and have called for witnesses who may have been anyone acting suspiciously at the time of the fire.
They’re also seeking CCTV or dashcam footage of the area during the same night.

UPDATE 10:40 am – A fire that significantly damaged an O’Connor apartment building has been deemed suspicious.
It appears the blaze was started in one of the apartments of the ‘Cobram’ complex, which was unoccupied at the time.

Wednesday, 17 January, 7:50 am – ACT Fire and Rescue crews have spent several hours extinguishing a significant fire that engulfed an apartment building in O’Connor.
Emergency services were first notified at 1:30 am this morning (17 January), with aerial support called in to help suppress the blaze.
The unoccupied apartment block on Berrigan Crescent was extensively damaged and fire crews will remain on site throughout the morning.
Berrigan Crescent remains partially closed, but traffic impacts on Wattle Street have eased.
ACT Ambulance Crews were also on site as a precaution.
The scene has been handed over to police to begin their investigations.
