UPDATE, 7 February, 9:40 am – Two brothers who had gone missing from the Tuggeranong area have been found safe and well.
An amber alert had been issued for David, 4, and River, 2, earlier this week, and had been believed to be with their father.
Police confirmed the boys had been found just across the ACT border, and a man was assisting officers with their inquiries.
5 February: Police are seeking urgent assistance to find two missing toddlers, believed to be in the company of Garry Hughes.
It’s believed David Hughes (4) and River Hughes (2) left an Oxley home with the 36-year-old at about 10:30 am on Monday (5 February).
David is described as Caucasian, with curly brown hair, and was wearing a green t-shirt and blue shoes.
Two-year-old River is described as Caucasian with straight brown hair and was wearing a grey t-shirt and orange shorts.
Garry Hughes is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 188 cm (6’1″) tall, with a slim build, fair complexion, shoulder-length dark blonde hair with a beard and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a grey/navy blue t-shirt, dark pants, dark-coloured runners, and a yellow cap.
The trio could be travelling in a white Toyota, a white Hyundai i30 or possibly on public transport. The boys could be in a black and grey pram/stroller with a red seat.
Police and the boys’ family have both expressed serious concerns for their welfare.
