UPDATED: Police seize knife after Tuggeranong McDonald's incident

UPDATED 20 January, 5 pm: A knife was reported to be involved in an incident that saw police called to a southside McDonald’s this afternoon. An ACT Policing spokesperson said that the incident had been resolved.

“Police were called with reports of someone carrying a knife,” an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

“It has since been seized from that person.”

There is no ongoing danger to the public.

20 January, 4:20 pm: Police are asking people to avoid the area around a Tuggeranong McDonald’s amid an ongoing incident.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said they received the first call at about 3:30 pm.

“Police are currently responding to an incident at the Tuggeranong McDonald’s,” they said.

“The incident is ongoing and people are asked to avoid the area.”

Region understands the incident is occurring at the Cowlishaw Street location.
