A man who went missing in the Uriarra area for several days has been found safe and well.

The man, who was driving a dark-coloured vehicle, was bogged in his car for several days and had been in contact with emergency services but could not identify his precise location.

Search and Rescue personnel searched the region on foot and asked anyone in the area to keep a lookout for the bogged vehicle. The man was eventually found on Monday (20 August).

This is the second incident involving a stranded motorist in the area over the past two days after a man’s car slid down an embankment while exploring the Brindabellas in snowy conditions on Saturday night (18 August).

Police advise that if you’re planning to venture into snow-covered areas to please make sure your vehicle is appropriate and prepared for icy conditions.

Don’t understand these people who try to use their family sedan or soccer mum AWD SUV as a 4×4 and go out bush in cr@p conditions. I’ve dragged 5 back onto the Boboyan Rd so far this winter who thought the “Road closed to all but 4×4 vehicles” sign didn’t apply to them, and they have even moved barriers to get by. A couple in other places too. They should be billed for emergency services costs in those cases.
