Joy Burch announced today that nominations for the newly developed ACT Women’s awards will be opening next month.
“We have worked closely with the Ministerial Advisory Council on Women to develop the ACT Women’s Awards as a replacement for the former International Women’s Day Awards,” Ms Burch said.
“With the advice of the advisory council, we are giving these awards a new name to underline their focus on Canberra and also extending the nomination process so that it stretches for three months.
“The awards will still be presented on International Women’s Day to reflect their heritage and will become a focal point for celebrating women.”
Nominations for the awards open on 1 August and will close on 20 December 2013. There will be award three categories:
— ACT Woman of the Year
— Young Woman of the Year (16-30 years old)
— Senior ACT Woman of the Year (50 years old and above).
