A 48-year-old man who suffered burns as a result of a fire in Molonglo will face court today charged with causing a bushfire during the total fire ban on January 16.
Police will allege the man, of no fixed abode, had been found hiding under a bridge after a fire had been deliberately lit near Tuggeranong Parkway and Lady Denman Drive. The man was conveyed firstly to The Canberra Hospital and later to Sydney’s Concord Hospital for treatment to his burns.
When the man was discharged from hospital and returned to the ACT on Saturday, he was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House.
