An outbreak of sanity?

By Smelly - 13 October 2010 18

This moning whilst driving to work I witnessed an outbreak of sanity.  Most people slowed down to drive for the conditions!

There was of course one person in a red Honda that didn’t……

What’s Your opinion?

“Wanniassa Shops becomes a slippery ordeal”

I agree. Wanniassa is an ordeal and Kambah too come to think of it …

+1 for putting lights on. When visibility is bad, headlights make it much easier to see other vehicles in your mirrors.

Take care going around suburban roundabouts in Southern Canberra. The local hoons like to spill oil on them making them very dangerous in these conditions. Even at a very slow speed, turning into Wanniassa Shops becomes a slippery ordeal everytime it rains.

Congrats to all the drivers though who are driving to the conditions and to those who are putting their lights on in heavy rain where visibility is impaired. It all helps. Conversely, to the nut-bag soccer mum driving a Torago on Drakeford at 110 in an 80 zone, hopefully your kids won’t be in the car when you find a light pole with your name on it. Just think about next time.

There was a pretty good six car collision on Yamba Drive this morning that ended with car five’s rear wheels resting on car six’s front bumper.

Slowed down so much that the usual 30 minute commute (for a 12 minute drive) took 50 minutes. 🙁
Had enough – I’m swinging over to bus or bike.

Perfect bike weather?

I think you’ve made a mistake in your post, you say that there was one person that didn’t slow down for the conditions, when you obviously meant it the other way around.

What are you talking about, haha? I find the traffic often slows down too much during wet weather. If it’s still raining like it has been at 5-6pm then going across Commonwealth Ave Bridge will be very cabbage.

I have no problems with people altering their driving to allow for the wet conditions, I fully agree with the theory. But if in practice that means you have to drive like a total nervous nellie now might be the time to reconsider buying those $49 tyres from Kmart, or getting those brakes checked out, and so it goes…

Yup, for every ten retards who continue to speed like crazy even in heavy rain of fog, there are a couple who like to do walking pace. It keeps like interesting.
