its mutually beneficial… it opens the bands up to people who may not ness see these bands otherwise and is a good way for bands to network with bands they wouldn’t normally network with. It also brings in people into the pubs..

No, it’s a way of providing bands with support.

You try charging people to see you perform when nobody knows what your music is like.

isn’t battle of the bands just a clever way for club/pub owners to get a heap of people to come along and drink up while they pay the bands nothing? appart from the hope that they might get a “record deal” at the end….
