They’re getting rid of some Wattles! That’s good!
They’ll probably plant more Wattles! That’s bad!
Territory and Municipal Services wishes to advise the public that work will commence this weekend (Saturday 7 September) to remove trees within the Canberra Avenue median strip between Hindmarsh Drive and the NSW border.
This work, which will mainly involve the removal of Willows, over mature Wattles and dead and dying trees from the area, will allow for a new planting corridor to be established.
Over the coming months, approximately 1,000 new trees will be planted within the median strip along the avenue. These trees will be a mix of native and exotic tree species such as Scribbly gum, She oak, Pin oaks and Atlas cedars.
Work to replant new trees is expected to be completed by the end of November 2013.
