Car collides with light rail vehicle

A car has collided with a light rail vehicle on the corner of Northbourne Avenue and Swinden Street, Downer, disrupting services for less than an hour today.

The accident occurred at 12:40 pm, with a Transport Canberra spokesperson saying services on the line were stopped for a short time but were now back to normal.

It is believed the light rail vehicle suffered only minor damage and was back in service.

Melbourne has an average of three car/tram collisions per day. Fortunately there are backup buses, as we had today.
