The sun is out in the capital, and what better way to spend it this Saturday (19 February) than toasting summer and the warmer weather while enjoying the great outdoors?

Canberra’s pop-up wine bar, The Pop Inn, is celebrating its 5th birthday with an afternoon of Sunshine and Citrus in Telopea Park.

Since launching in 2017, it has won hearts and awards for its architecturally designed boutique wine bar on wheels. With sleek black lines and stylish interior fit-out, owner Kimberley Ohayon wanted to create a unique and sophisticated experience and worked with DJAS, a local architect firm on the bespoke creation.

It has since been delighting all who visit with a menu focused on locally sourced wine and food while popping up in some beautiful Canberra locations.

Since launching in 2017, The Pop Inn has won hearts and awards.

“The most interesting places we have popped up have been the top of Mount Ainslie – the views were amazing and people climbing the mountain got a lovely surprise at the top!” Kimberley says.

“We had an amazing event at the historic Calthorpes’ House and met one of the original residents, it was such a special evening in a gorgeous setting. We also had a couple of pop-ups at the Shine Dome which is just a beautiful location and not where you’d expect to find us!

“Celebrating this milestone is the perfect opportunity to throw a community party, to thank our regulars, and to meet new friends.”

Pop Inn founder Kimberley Ohayon has taken the venue to some unlikely places around the capital.

The celebration will take place from 1 pm on Saturday in Telopea Park. Customers can enjoy wine tastings and a few citrus-inspired cocktail specials, including an Aperol Spritz and Limoncello Spritz to set the mood.

The Italian Traveller, a family-run food truck, will be providing the perfect accompaniment in the form of fish and chips. Just remember to bring your own picnic rug, a hat and sunscreen!

“When we started out with the Pop Inn, I had no idea that people would embrace it so much,” Kimberley says.

“I am so proud of our super-star team and grateful for those early adopters who took a chance on us. We look forward to many more fun and relaxed afternoons, and we’ll continue to provide a local getaway in the beautiful parks and hidden gems of Canberra.”

The Pop Inn will be at Telopea Park from 1 pm on Saturday, 19 February. For more details, visit The Pop Inn Wine Bar.
