City Traders seeking a word in the Government's shell-like over the Multicultural Festival

multicultural festival

In The City Canberra have an exceedingly carefully worded statement up about plans to discuss the scope of the Multicultural Festival with the Government:

Some businesses did not anticipate the larger scale of this year’s festival and expressed an interest in meeting with Government to discuss plans for 2012 and new issues that may have arisen.

Sometimes the words between the lines speak louder than the words on the lines.

Apparently correspondence on the subject should be sent to aliciadoherty@canberracbdlimited.com.au .

Paddy’s market on the weekend is no different, Queen Vic markets in Melbourne same thing, Canberra needs more of it.

Rubbish!!!! They are undercover and never get this jammed packed.

Never will go again. The crowds are too stiffling these days.

After living in Canberra for 4 years I finally went to the multicultural festival for the first time. I will not be going again unless I hear that they move to a new/bigger area. It was disgusting!

I was there each day, you my friend are a whinger. Great atmosphere, good food and drinks good people, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn’t put up with it every day, but to have a weekend in the year where everyone is in Civic is great!

It wont be moving I don’t think, even though there are some annoying people like dingo84, it will stay.

Close off the law courts and the canberra theare carparks and put on more public transport.

its the best day out in Canberra, if they move it somewhere else it will just fail

the benefits of Civic are that you can get there easily and if you want to do something afterwards you can

The reported crowds is one reason I don’t go to this. The picture is even worse than I’d imagined. They need to spread it out, a lot. Surely civic’s big enough? They could close Bunda St and other offshoots.

I will be boycotting any business associated with any attempt to limit or reduce the awesomeness of the multiculti.
