Members of the public are invited to launch the South Jerrabomberra Display Village amid fanfare at a free community event.

The Village Building Co has turned the launch of the display village, built in association with Master Builders ACT, into a celebration of the new suburb, its residents and builders.

Village Building ACT Region General Manager Jamie Cregan said the open day would include multicultural food, activities and prizes for all ages.

“We are encouraging everyone to come and celebrate with us and discover what South Jerrabomberra has to offer,” he said.

Children’s activities on the day will include a mini play village, a magician and a display passport activity with prizes to be won.

There will be activations from the Capital Region Farmers Market and multiple food options, including the Zango and Tikka Stand food trucks, and offerings from Wildflour Artisan Bakery & Café and La Cena Pizza & Pasta.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, the 104.7 Hit Squad will be there to add music and broadcast the event.

But amid the fun, the biggest drawcard for those in the market for a new home will be the display village itself, comprising seven homes from The Village Building Company, Metric Homes, Metricon, Achieve Homes, Watt Constructions, Hotondo Homes and Bode by Ram Constructions.

“The ultimate goal [of the event] is to showcase the display homes, which have been delivered by prominent builders in the region,” Mr Cregan said.

“We think the homes on offer provide for a range of needs and are complementary within the Display Village.

“We are also excited to be in association with the Master Builders Association in the Display Village and really value their partnership.”

Master Builders ACT CEO Michael Hopkins said Master Builders ACT was delighted to partner with Village Building Co on the opening of the South Jerrabomberra Display Village.

“The display village comprises many outstanding homes delivered by Master Builders ACT Members,” he said.

“Very soon, South Jerrabomberra will be home to a large community, and we are proud that our members will play a key role in the development of this region.”

Mr Cregan said the event was “also an opportunity to showcase what has been delivered to date and the soon-to-be delivered amenity within the estate”.

“South Jerra is like no other suburb in the region – it’s close to three city centres in the ACT and the employment belt of the parliamentary triangle to the airport,” he said.

“But better than this are the community facilities to be built.”

Among the most anticipated facilities, construction on South Jerrabomberra’s epic town park starts this month and will include a 600 sqm water splash park, a formal play space with a centrepiece about 10-metres tall, a nature play area, a learn-to-ride facility to teach kids road rules and which can be used for school excursions, an outdoor gym, barbecues, an amphitheatre for events, shared pathways and a huge kick-around space.

Also commencing work this month will be a 3 ha dog park incorporating shelters, barbecues, an amphitheatre for teaching, facilities for events and dog club operations and a community orchard and garden.

The 500 sqm community centre is another highlight, and a skate park is slated for construction within the next three years. A BMX pump track, mountain bike trails and skills facility will follow soon after.

The Village Building Co has dedicated 23 ha of land towards a Regional Sporting Complex, which is being delivered by the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, as well as land for the long-awaited Jerrabomberra High School.

“Life at South Jerra is about creating a destination for recreational opportunities and placing them all within walking distance so that everyone who lives there will have lifestyle opportunities on their doorstep for all ages, all levels of mobility and abilities,” Mr Cregan said.

“Within close proximity to Queanbeyan and Canberra, South Jerra, in our opinion, is the most liveable suburb in the region and anyone who lives there will be proud to call it home.”

The wildly popular South Jerrabomberra is a release area of 1500 dwellings and will be home to more than 4000 people upon completion.

The project is predominantly broken up into Estate 1 and Estate 2. Estate 1 comprises 664 dwellings of which 509 have had titles issued and settled. The remainder will be registered in October 2022 and March 2023.

Estate 2 approvals are currently being finalised and works will begin in early 2023.

The South Jerrabomberra Display Village open day takes place on 10 September from 12 pm to 4 pm at Alpine Ash Way (access via Tompsitt Drive), Jerrabomberra.

“We would encourage everyone to attend the Display Village open day as we have something on offer for all ages,” Mr Cregan said.
