New Acton are letting you know about their new “space” they’d like you to check out:

The NewActon Precinct’s latest space, Deadset, is giving a peek this weekend, starting today at noon.

Deadset is a bar; a lounge room; a library stocked with a growing collection of artisan books; and a secret garden.

While Deadset sits on the ground floor of Hotel Hotel, was made by the same mob and shares their art collection, Deadset is not the hotel bar and lounge…

“Deadset is a place for people to converge”, says Nectar Efkarpidis, Hotel Hotel founder.

We want it to be open to everyone – whether that’s a local having a drink at the bar, a uni student scamming free wifi from the lounge or reading the books in the library, or an art lover coming to look at the works”.

It’s all part of the grand plan to give Canberrans more sets from which to perform, and to enrich Canberra’s artistic culture. “We have some incredible talent in Canberra”, says Efkarpidis. “They deserve more places to showcase this talent; and more places where homegrown, national and international talent can be enjoyed by locals.”

To kick it off The Idea of North is going to play there on Sunday from 11.15AM.
