The design for the new safe, purpose-built and future-proofed Queanbeyan Police Station was unveiled by Member for Monaro John Barilaro on Monday morning (21 May).
Queanbeyan Police officers will receive a new station at their current location next to the courthouse, with construction to start in the coming months.
The new and improved police station will cost $17 million and Mr Barilaro said he was proud to honour his 2015 campaign commitment.
“During the 2015 campaign I committed to delivering a new station for Queanbeyan, and I am proud to be honouring this commitment and unveiling the chosen design today,” he said.
“This was a commitment not matched by any other candidate, with NSW Labor opposing this as an unnecessary development.”
Mr Barilaro said the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government worked with Queanbeyan Police to finalise the design and ensure that it is a choice that provides our men and women in uniform with a safe, purpose-built building.

Mr Barilaro said the design would meet the needs of the Queanbeyan region today and well into the future.
“Under a Liberals and Nationals Government, the Queanbeyan region will continue to receive the highest level of infrastructure and support for emergency services,” he said.
“The safety of our community is paramount and I am proud to be delivering a facility that will see our local area command housed properly so they can get on with the job and continue protecting our community.
“Today’s announcement shows our commitment to ensuring the Queanbeyan Police have the resources they need to keep our community safe.”
Mr Barilaro said that the water issues that plagued the current station would not affect the rebuild on the existing site and the new station would not be affected by the same issues.
