ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a single vehicle collision, which occurred on Athllon Drive, Kambah yesterday (Thursday, September 13).

Around 12.20pm, a silver Nissan Skyline GT coupe was travelling north on Athllon Drive (approximately 200m north of Sulwood Drive) when it left the roadway and rolled down an embankment. The 22-year-old Theodore man was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not injured in the collision.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team are currently investigating the incident.

Any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken to police are urged to contact ACT Policing Operations on 131-444. Alternatively, they can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Well your original comment said racing, and that suggests high speed, which seems more dangerous than general “driving like a tosser”.

That’s the only reason I put it out there that he perhaps wasn’t racing.

Was he driving like a tosser, yes probably! lol

(Unless there were circumstances we don’t know about, a roo perhaps?)

The driver screwed up. It happens. And no-one was hurt, so I guess the driver will learn a lesson and move on.

I didn’t say anything about driving like a tosser. I said RACING. Why bother when you have less power than an average family sedan?

Semantics. If you are racing on the streets, then your driving fits into the broader category of ‘driving like a tosser’. Whether he was racing or not is a matter of conjecture, but it is still one of two possibilities that immediately came to my mind.

As for why – well who knows? Ever since there have been cars, people (usually boys) have raced them. According to popular belief, the workers at the Ford factory held one of the first drag races after the first two Model-T’s came off the production line. I recall some idiot moments in my youth racing an (underpowered) Ford Escort against a mates (also underpowered) Datsun 1600 on the Tuggeranong Parkway. And of course nobody has ever seen a 6-cyl POS Commodore (or Falcon) racing off from people at traffic lights. The point is that street racing (or driving like a tosser in general) is not limited to people in powerful cars.

And just so it is on record, I am very much a petrol head.

I didn’t say anything about driving like a tosser. I said RACING. Why bother when you have less power than an average family sedan?

2. Who was he racing?

Non turbo Skylines are not very powerful. Highly doubtful he was racing anyone.

So you are suggesting that you can only drive like a tosser if your Skyline has a turbo? Bulldust.

me thinks he is trying to say someone ran him off the road or some such excuse to validate his stupidity.

What embankment? The road is pretty well level with the bike path all the way up the hill, the lowest part being on the corner to the road going to the horse paddocks & that would be 100m north of Sulwood Dve at best. There is a bank that is higher than the road just passed the crest.

I wonder if he managed to spear himself so far of the road that he hit the channel running off the other side of the bike path?

I’m guessing the roundabout at Sulwood Dr might have made a cameo appearance in this play…

Interesting, there was another accident yesterday just past the Anketell/Cowlishaw intersection in Tuggeranong. Would have been around 1pm.

Odd thing was there only appeared to be a single vehicle smashed, whole front quarter imploded, wheel ripped off and the car stranded in the middle of the road. And the vehicle was surrounded by Police cars including one of the SRS 4x4s. No fire brigade, no ambulance though.

So at 1220 pm a dole bludger in a doof doof car with his hat on backwards while sitting on the floor stacked * conditions apply.

A single vehicle collision? What did the car collide with?

Maybe the vehicle’s performance collided with the driver’s lack of performance in keeping the vehicle on the road?

lolz, I think this just made my day

Probably the ground. Since it rolled, probably several times.

The car involved does rather give one cause to suspect the circumstances.

Sounds to me like he buggered up his car going down an embankment. Case closed?

I wonder how fast he was going, or what else he could’ve been doing at the time. There is bugger all traffic on that road most days usually at lunch time….

Seems odd, a single vehicle accident, with a single occupant who didn’t sustain any injury. Can’t they just give him a neg driving fine and be done with it?
