The War Memorial has lots of activities planned for Saturday, they are having an Open Day.

On a side note, as a resident of Campbell, I received a letter in my mailbox about the road closures/noise etc – one of the more hilarious notification letters I’ve read yet, because it starts with “As you will probably be aware, I commenced as Director of the Australian National War Memorial in 2012….”, because in Brendon Nelson land, everyone is following his career with avid interest, so of course the residents of Campbell all knew he was the new Director.

Saturday 6th April 2013 – 1:30 to 5:00PM

“Apple Day” – The 23rd Annual Open Day at Loriendale

Discover and enjoy – this afternoon has become an annual event for many Canberrans and an increasing number of people from interstate.
Take a drive into the country and discover the delights of freshly picked orchard fruit and enjoy an afternoon in a relaxed setting.
– Select from the varieties of international and Australian apples and pears
– Buy organic produce from local producer stalls: farm vegetables, dried fruit, toffee apples and honey.
– Watch the pressing of fresh apple juice on the wooden apple press – C19th styled machine.
– Enjoy a range of organic foods – crepes served with Loriendale apple sauce and Devonshire teas served with delicious scones, muffins or cakes.
– Stroll through the orchard, complete with free range bantam hens foraging among the trees.
– Relaxing background music provided by local musicians and choirs.

At “Loriendale Orchard”
Travel along the Barton Highway, north of Canberra
Turn right at Spring Range Road
(2km north of border between ACT/NSW)

Thank you. Was thinking I had missed it as it has often been in March in past years.
