Doing a runner in a Nissan Tiida and being found hiding in a bin. A rare double

By johnboy - 21 March 2013 11

A 20-year-old Braddon man will face ACT Magistrates Court after fleeing from police early this morning (Thursday, March 21).

Around 12:10am police observed a white Nissan Tiida travelling at high speed on Belconnen Way, Belconnen.

Police activated their emergency lights and siren but the driver failed to stop, accelerating away onto Kingsford Smith Drive.

Police lost sight of the vehicle; however it was discovered a short time later mounted on a gutter at Dolling Crescent, Flynn. The driver had left the vehicle.

Police conducted a search of the area, locating a man hiding inside a domestic recycling bin.

The man was identified as the driver of the vehicle and taken into custody. He was later released, and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date

How do we know the “bin” wasn’t his actual place of abode?

He’s more likely to get fined for putting the wrong thing in the recycling than any punishment for bad driving

I love that…
“The man was identified as the driver of the vehicle and taken into custody.”

So, the police regularly find people hiding in rubbish bins?

Ah if only he too could be recycled.

You’re assuming he can’t. There must be several useful things that could be made out of him.

I heard he was just waiting for a mate.

When they say; “police observed a white Nissan Tiida travelling at high speed on Belconnen Way,” I’m assuming they mean “above 50kmph”.

That would make me suspicious of it too.

“No doubt this will be thrown out.”

Thank you. Here every Thursday. And try the veal.
