New Zealand in 1981 is a rugby-obsessed country divided over the arrival of the South African Springboks team. In Dunedin, 17-year-old misfit Josh Waaka takes inspiration from nationwide protests and discovers his own voice through performance. Forced to take a stand for the first time in his life, Josh embraces his community and his Māori heritage, leading his family on a journey towards healing.

Starring Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) alongside Rhys Darby and Minnie Driver, Uproar is a heartwarming coming-of-age story about connection and finding your place in the world.

‘…packs an emotional punch while remaining consistently funny.’ – Screen Rant
