Looking for a way to connect with fellow veterans, enjoy the fresh air, and promote a healthy lifestyle? On Sunday, 20 October 2024, gather for the Veterans Health Week Bicycle Ride around beautiful Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just want to enjoy a casual ride, everyone is welcome.

The event kicks off at 9 AM, and it’s all about riding together at a pace that suits you. If you’re in Lycra and ready to lead the charge, you’ll be at the front, setting the pace for those who like a challenge. Right behind will be the regular riders, taking it all in at a steady rhythm. And for those just looking to enjoy a leisurely day out, come amble along with us at the back—there’s room for everyone.

This isn’t a competition; it’s about coming together as a community, sharing experiences, and enjoying Canberra’s scenic beauty. The route takes us clockwise along the iconic Lake Burley Griffin, offering picturesque views of the water and green spaces. Along the way, you’ll ride with fellow veterans, and first responders and civilians involved in operations — sharing stories, laughter, and building lasting connections.

The ride concludes with a free lunch at the On-Lake Café. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, chat, and enjoy some well-deserved rest. The food is courtesy of DVA, but the friendships and memories are what truly make the day special.

So, mark your calendar for 20 October, gather some friends, and bring your bicycle, water, sunscreen, and sense of adventure. Let’s ride for camaraderie, for health, and for the stories we create together. No-one pedals alone.

Register now and be part of something meaningful!

Note: The Australian Peacekeeper and Peacemaker Veteran’s Association (APPVA) considers veterans to include ADF veterans (current or ex-serving), first responders with peacekeeping deployments, and civilians involved in operations such as DFAT members, Australian Electoral Commission personnel, and civilian peace monitors.
