Fire in Hughes

The following in from the ESA:

4:15am Saturday 22 May 2010 – House fire at Hughes The ACT Fire Brigade have responded to a house fire in Poynton Street, Hughes after receiving a triple zero (000) call at 3:31am this morning.

Three fire pumpers and BA support system are currently on scene with the fire extinguished shortly after arrival.

The cause of the fire will be examined by fire investigators. Initial damage has been put at $60,000.

The ACT Fire Brigade would like to remind residents of the importance of working smoke alarms in the home after three occupants inside the house were woken by the smoke alarm and were able to evacuate safely.
