First road deaths of the year after head-on smash in Cook

The ACT has recorded its first and second road fatalities of the year after a head-on smash in Cook left two people dead and two people in hospital.

The two-car collision happened at 11:30 am on Saturday morning on Coulter Drive between William Hovell Drive and Springvale Drive.

Police said one person died at the scene and three people were taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. A second person then died in hospital overnight, ACT Policing said.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team are investigating the circumstances of the incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
