The connoisseur does not drink wine but tastes its secrets” – Salvador Dali.

You may truly appreciate your wine, but here’s a chance to get to know your wine far better and become ‘wine-ducated’.

Pialligo Estate Academy is Canberra’s Approved Program Provider delivering the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Wines and Level 2 Award in Wines qualification. These are facilitated by the very talented French Sommelier and Approved Nominated Educator, Frederique Raimbaud.

Best known by colleagues as Freddie, she holds a WSET Level 3 qualification and is currently studying the Diploma. Freddie has an extensive knowledge of wine and a passion for educating wine enthusiasts

Frederique (Freddie) Raimbaud facilitates the courses, and has an extensive knowledge of wine.

Since its inception three years ago, the Academy has developed a strong reputation for the highest calibre masterclasses in the Capital, delivering the broadest range of unique educational and lifestyle training programs, allowing guests the opportunity to engage, explore and experience.

Due to popularity and demand, Freddie and the Academy are offering another round of these globally recognised wine qualifications in March.

“The programs are not just for hospitality professionals and that’s something that a lot of people forget – they are perfect to enhance a range of other complementary industries and add value to round out one’s skill set,” says Freddie.

“They can even make the perfect corporate team-building exercise – particularly the Level 1 course. So if you’ve got a group of colleagues who consider themselves to have a keen eye for good wine, they could book into the upcoming Level 1 course, or even talk to us about building an individual course date just for them.”

Whether you’re a wine enthusiast, retailer or marketer, dreamer of a fruitful wine-future, or just someone who wants to be an expert among friends, these courses are worth adding to your resume.

“We are very proud to be an Approved Programme Provider for these esteemed qualifications and have seen more than one hundred students successfully graduate through the Academy,” says Diana Ryan, Training and Development Manager at Pialligo Estate.

“The success of the courses is a tribute to Freddie,” says Diana. “She’s so passionate about wine and highly knowledge but, most importantly, a fabulous trainer who enlightens all students and builds confidence in all things wine.”

To be held in the beautiful Pavilions at the Estate surrounded by their own vineyard, the Level 1 qualification will deliver a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. Students will be encouraged to explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste, and will acquire the skills necessary to accurately describe the characteristics of wine and make food and wine pairings.

The Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits will see students further their core understanding, covering subjects such as wine production, labelling terminology, major grape varieties, and important wine-producing regions of the world.

This is an experience you’ll savour in a location you’ll never forget.
