Goodwin Aged Care Services has announced its latest purchase of a well-known residential care facility on the South Coast.

The Glen is a modern, state-of-the-art facility located in Catalina, Batemans Bay, with more than 90 fully equipped residences to suit all ages of care.

Following their previous purchase of the retirement living village, The Manor, Goodwin aims to continue providing care to meet the needs of seniors in the region.

Goodwin introduced home care services to the Batemans Bay region in 2021.

Goodwin CEO Stephen Holmes said extending Goodwin’s services to the NSW had been one of their long-term goals.

“Goodwin has always had a strong relationship with the Eurobodalla region,” Mr Holmes said.

“Many of our residents have moved into our Canberra residential care facilities having previously lived at the coast.

“The purchase of The Glen now means that seniors in the region looking to receive the quality of care we offer can remain living in their community.”

Mr Holmes said Goodwin will provide seniors living on the South coast with a full range of services when and where they need them, including fully independent retirement living, for low to medium and high-care needs.

The Glen has been owned and operated since 2012 by Fresh Hope Communities, a not-for-profit aged care provider.

“Fresh Hope and the team at The Glen have done an excellent job managing the facility to a high standard,” the Goodwin CEO said.

“We are fortunate that the existing staff will remain working at The Glen, and we have been working hard during the transition process to minimise disruption to staff and residents.

“Goodwin looks forward to working with the staff and residents of The Glen and is excited to continue and build upon the strong quality of care that Fresh Hope Communities has established.”

Fresh Hope Communities CEO Daniel Dwyer said, “We are very proud of what we have achieved with the support of our dedicated staff since purchasing The Glen a decade ago.

“The sale is a great outcome for residents, families, staff and the broader community, with another high-quality non-profit organisation continuing to operate the service, providing continuity for residents and employees,” Mr Dwyer said.

As part of caring for its residents, Goodwin Aged Care Services will offer a full range of clinical services which includes an in-house pharmacist.

They were also the first aged care provider in the nation to employ a full-time in-house pharmacist, which positively resulted in the Australian Government funding this initiative and implementing it in more aged care facilities across Australia.
