ACT Greens have released a formal response to Vicki Dunne’s attack of their waterway plans this morning.
“Liberal and Labor were all at sea yesterday making a flurry of statements to hide the fact they had no water policy of their own ready to articulate. They were caught on the hop and their statements prove it,” said Shane Rattenbury, ACT Greens Water Spokesperson.
“According to Labor, they’re using the funds for something else, and according to the Liberals, the Commonwealth money doesn’t exist. In reality, the $85 million was allocated to the ACT in 2008 for use on a water quality project.
“Labor say they’ll be spending the money on water security, despite Actew and the ICRC repeatedly assuring us that Canberra is already water secure for the next two decades. Meanwhile the health of our lakes is in decline.
[…]We look forward to hearing how the Labor and Liberal parties plan to clean up the ACT’s lakes and waterways.”
They believe building wetlands will lead to an improvement in water quality through Canberra.
