IGA Trumps Woolies in Battle for Karabar

By Duke - 14 July 2008 3

So said the checkout chick I spoke to at the former Karabar Supabarn this morning.  Amongst the largely deserted shelves, heavy set, heavily be-jewelled ethnic types could be seen shaking hands, pointing fingers and directing workers.  Signs were being removed, cabinets located, stock moved out.

A great outcome I say

What’s Your opinion?

Mr Supabarn will be disappointed, his 3 other stores within 20 kms of each other must have been likely to substantially lessen competition.

The new owners, own a few IGA stores here already so I’m sure Karabar is in good hands.

Good. They’ve been exploiting the public housing around there for years with very high prices and poor quality produce.
