Jon Stanhope is touting the success of the latest Live in Canberra campaign, which targeted the Illawarra region.
Mr Stanhope said the campaign team has been “swamped with enquiries and “met face-to-face with more than 250 residents during sessions in Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Nowra”.
He also said the campaign has been “even more successful” than last year’s targeting of south Sydney residents. One wonders if that may be an admission that last year’s campaign wasn’t particularly successful for all the money spent on it.
Apparently some Illawarrens have already found “suitable” jobs in Canberra and are set to move here anytime now (meanwhile, this Canberra resident will be moving to the Illawarra next week because of a lack of suitable jobs here). Of course, it could just be a lack of nightlife and entertainment down on the coast that’s driving the move.
Anyway, the 250+ people who went to see what all the fuss about Canberra was may live to regret it, since “the Live in Canberra team … will continue to maintain contact with those Illawarra residents interested in moving to the National Capital”. Poor buggers.
