A 60-year-old man has had his leg amputated after a crash between a motorcycle and a car near Tathra.
About 2 pm yesterday (October 6), emergency services were called to the intersection of Tathra Road and Sapphire Coast Drive, Kalaru, after reports a Harley Davidson and Subaru Impreza had collided.
The rider, a 60-year-old man, sustained serious leg injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital. As a result of the injuries, his left leg had to be amputated.
The driver of the Subaru, a 57-year-old woman, was taken to South East Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Police said she would undergo mandatory urine and blood testing.
A crime scene was established and diversions remained in place for several hours while the scene was examined by specialist police.
Officers from NSW South Coast Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
