When the idea of Mission To Launch was hatched many moons ago, finding the right venue was a major consideration. The organisers knew they had to find somewhere that was fresh and had never before been used for a large-scale music event. Being Canberra locals themselves, it wasn’t long before their thoughts focused on the peninsula. Tucked away in parkland on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, they stumbled upon a beautiful part of Weston Park, perfectly hidden amongst the trees and lake – THE ENCHANTED FOREST.

In order for everyone to enjoy the party in these natural surrounds, organisers are limiting capacity. Revelers can bring a rug and pillows if they want to chill out while soaking up the summer rays and atmosphere of the natural surrounds. And for those party-goers who are wanting an even more exclusive experience, VIP tickets will also be available.

With a new album just released, The Living End is once again at the top of their game and on top of the Australian music scene. More than 10 years after they first rose to prominence, the band is enjoying acclaim from punters and critics around the country, attracting a new generation of followers; the young and young at heart. With fire in their bellies and rock on their minds, The Living End is set to cause a musical riot of epic proportions at Mission To Launch.

Returning in 2011 with a sharp, streamlined new look, a fresh sense of adventure and, most importantly, a thoroughly reinvigorated sound, Sneaky Sound System is once again set to rocket to the top of Australian music. The first single, ‘We Love’, from their soon to be released album enjoyed national radio attention through Nova, Austereo and Hit List radio networks and spent five weeks in the ARIA Club Chart Top 5. The brand new single, ‘Big’, with a video shot in Las Vegas, has also hit the Aria Club Chart Top 10 with a bang.

International DJ and dance music legend, Ian Carey, is set to get the Weston Park crowds jumping. His signature funky bass line has propelled Carey to the top of the dance of the charts around the world. In one single week, he held eight mixes on the UK Upfront Club Top 40, including the dance floor anthem, ‘Get Shaky’. He has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including hip hop legend, Snoop Dogg, and is sure to launch the crowds in to a frenzy on New Year’s Eve.

With a plethora of local talent on offer, including indie darlings Cloud Control, roots music three piece, The Beautiful Girls, hip hop pioneers The Herd, party starters The Potbelleez, British India, Bag Raiders, Grafton Primary and loads more, this New Year’s Eve is shaping up to be one of Canberra’s best!

As well as awesome music and a fantastic location, Mission To Launch will also have a huge range of quality international food options to tickle partyers’ taste buds. There’ll be high impact rides for those adrenalin junkies, and a bunch of great markets where you can buy all sorts of arts, crafts, clothes and party treats. For those 18+, there’ll also be loads of licensed areas to indulge in your favourite bevies.

To make it as easy as possible to get to and from Weston Park, there will be a FREE bus service provided from various locations around Canberra, included in the price of your ticket. For those planning to drive, reserved parking is also available for purchase from the Mission to Launch website.
