The Canberra Times today (Friday 3 August 2007) reported that a man, 43 year old Johnny Oshana from Quenbeyan, faced the ACT magistrates court again yesterday. Johhny Oshana is charged with multiple federal offences involving using the internet to groom children under 16 for engaging in sexual activity. The court heard Oshana is likely to soon be charged in NSW with further offences of a similar nature involving other alleged young victims. It was reported that prosecutor Joe Kellaway told the court that forensic examinations of evidence found on seized computers and mobile phones could take police a further six weeks to complete. Evidence is being gathered from computers and mobiles belonging to Oshana and an alleged victim. After Oshana’s previous court appearance, it was alleged that an estimated 120,000 images were found on Oshana’s computer. Magistrate Burns directed that a committal hearing be held on 21 September and is to proceed regardless of the finalisation of forensic evidence.
